Cleaning up after the Saturday morning breakfast.

The Rockpile. The boys spent as much free time as possible climbing these boulders!

Our campsite in perspective. We were located in the west Mojave Desert, with rockpiles of varying heights around us.

Our Fearless Scoutmaster instructing the boys on pioneering. Here, they're learning to lash poles together with various knots.

Pioneering in practice: first steps in building a monkey bridge.

First test of the completed monkey bridge. It sagged more than it should have, so we decided to tighten the ropes some.

Testing the bridge after tightening the ropes..

Oops! Guess we made the ropes a little TOO tight! Well, it is a learning experience after all.

Shade was hard to come by. Luckily, we brought a couple of canopies to help us get through the day.

The scouts also worked on their orienteering skills. Here, two of the boys are using their compasses to help locate markers on a two-mile course.

One of our Fearless Assistant Scoutmasters giving the boys a break by preparing Saturday night's dinner. Guess what it is!!

Our Scoutmaster and a few of the boys preparing the evening campfire.
